RUMOURS: Chelsea plan £25 million Drinkwater bid

Chelsea are ready to make a second offer of £25 million for Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The Blues will make a second offer for Drinkwater as part of a plan to sign up to three players before this summer’s transfer window closes on August 31.

Drinkwater is interested in a move to Chelsea, even though he may find himself behind N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas in head coach Antonio Conte’s pecking order.

While Kante grabbed the plaudits, Drinkwater established himself as one of the more underrated players in England’s top flight. His passing range—specifically his ability to spring breaks with long balls over the top—maximised Leicester’s pace.

Leicester have already turned down a £15 million bid from Chelsea for Drinkwater, but the Premier League champions are planning to return with an improved offer as Antonio Conte chases at least three more signings before the transfer window closes…
